STEWART SWICK – Managing Director
Swick Dynamics is founded and led by Managing Director, Stewart Swick. Stewart has a long history of involvement with the drilling industry. His father, Lloyd, founded Swick Drilling in Australia in 1954.
Stewart graduated in 1983 with a B.App.Sc in Mining Engineering from the Western Australia School of Mines, after which he worked in the Australian oil and gas industry as a directional drilling engineer for 11 years prior to joining Schlumberger in Qatar.
In 1996 Stewart moved to Abu Dhabi as Sperry Drilling Services Directional Drilling manager. During this time Sperry provided services to all the operators in the UAE and boasted the largest market share of DD service providers.
From 2000 Stewart took up the post of Directional Drilling manager Australasia for Halliburton Energy Services. During this time Halliburton controlled 70% of the Australasian directional drilling market, and provided services for all the major Australasian oil and gas operators.
In Australia, Stewart has managed off-shore and land directional drilling operations for Conoco-Phillips, Exxon Mobil, Apache, Shell, BHP, Woodside and Santos.
Across Australasia, Stewart successfully managed projects for Swift Energy, Shell-Todd and Contact Energy in New Zealand and for Chevron, Exxon and OilSearch in Papua New Guinea.
In 2008, after working as ExxonMobil account leader in Angola, Stewart founded Swick Dynamics to fulfill a significant niche in the low cost directional drilling market.
